HSA Clearing Corp announces Costa Rican Medical Care
Lake Geneva, WI—March 2, 2009--HSA Clearing Corp. the leading provider of Health Savings Account educational services to financial institutions, employee benefit companies and health agents, is announcing a new division, Costa Rican Medical Care. The new division will provide medical tourism services specializing in only Costa Rica.
Working with the finest private hospitals and physicians in Costa Rica, Costa Rican Medical Care will help people save hundreds if not thousands of dollars on certain medical care procedures. According to a recent study by the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, the number of U.S. residents traveling across borders for medical care is expected to increase 700% -- from 750,000 in 2007 to 6 million in 2010. With health care costs skyrocketing out of control in the United States, medical tourism has become a very attractive option for cost-conscious consumers seeking quality care at an affordable price. While many medical tourism providers are recommending travel half-way around the world to places like India and Singapore (twelve time zones away), Costa Rican Medical Care is focusing only on the excellent care available in Costa Rica, a beautiful, friendly country much closer to home and in the Central Time Zone. Costa Rica has the competitive advantage of geography, a stable economic and political system and an international reputation for the quality of its health care system
“Educating people on ways to save on health care has always been our main goal, and now more than ever, people need help. There are millions of people who have to pay hard-earned money out of their own pocket. Some have a Consumer Driven Health Plan or an HSA, and some simply have no insurance at all.” said Tim Morales President of HSA Clearing Corp.
“Many of our banking customers are self-insured. Having a cost-efficient alternative to high cost care in the States will mean lowering costs for these institutions. For example, a hip replacement can cost as much as $70,000 in the US. However, the same procedure in Costa Rica, including all tests, surgery, physician costs, rehabilitation, and follow-up care in the U.S., travel, lodging and meals in Costa Rica can run about $15,000 -- all costs included”
Costa Rican Medical Care program is simple and stress-free. We provide the consumer with answers to their questions and let them know the approximate cost of their total trip. Patients (and their companions, if applicable) are picked up at the airport by an English-speaking guide. Hotel accommodations are carefully selected to provide convenience to the patient. The guide will accompany the patient to and from the doctor appointments. Following the surgery and recovery, our counselors will arrange for any further rehab or care that might be needed, and contract with an in-home service in the U.S. to provide further care if needed.
Our people in Costa Rica have been providing these services for many years to people from around the world. Their facilities are modern and patient care is state-of-the-art. Most physicians are trained U.S. trained and use the latest available technology and equipment. Both the medical and tourism staff speaks excellent English.
“With the thousands of health agents, employee benefit firms and customers of our HSA bank and credit union network across the country, offering Costa Rican Medical Care will help many people get and stay healthy and save money at the same time”, Morales continued. “You would be surprised by the growing number of insurance companies that work with many of these providers and we hope to introduce more.”

Lake Geneva, WI (PRWEB) June 5, 2008 -- Roy Ramthun, "Mr. HSA," has released an updated version of his free eBook entitled, "The Common Sense Guide to Health Savings Accounts: What You Need to Know about High Deductible Health Plans and Health Savings Accounts."
This guide is intended to help individuals, families and employers better understand Health Savings Accounts, how the HSA-qualified health plans that make people eligible for Health Savings Accounts compare to traditional health insurance, and how to determine whether a Health Savings Account is right for you. A worksheet is included to help people compare the financial features of the HSA to a traditional policy.
The guide examines the finer details of HSA accounts and the health insurance policies that accompany them. In each section, a "Buyer's Guide" provides advice, reminders, and things to consider when examining a Health Savings Account. The "Buyer's Guide" is intended to provide additional insight into the finer details of Health Savings Accounts and how they work.
Additional help is provided through answers to frequently asked questions, definitions of terms that are commonly used with Health Savings Accounts, and a description of additional resources available through the Internet.
Mr. Ramthun is the former White House health care adviser who also led the U.S. Treasury Departments implementation of the Health Savings Account program in 2004. "Since the beginning, anytime we have had any questions concerning HSAs that we could not answer, be it from an individual, health agent, employer or one of our financial institution clients, we have always turned to Roy. While some others are claiming to be "experts" in this field only Roy brings the experience and knowledge of the insurance industry and the U.S. Treasury Department to the table", said Tim Morales of HSA Clearing Corp. "Roy's Common Sense Guide helps get the proper information out so people can determine which health plan is right for their situation".

Thursday, 17 April 2008
Lake Geneva, WI (PRWEB) April 17, 2008 -- HSA Clearing Corp, the leading Health Savings Account setup provider for financial institutions, is now projecting the 2009 amounts for HSAs. "With yesterday's release of the March inflation figures by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the inflation-adjusted amounts for health savings accounts (HSAs) for 2009 are now known," says Roy Ramthun, Senior Vice President of HSA Clearing Corp. "With all the data points available, we can now state that the 2009 HSA numbers are as we predicted last month."
Because of the enactment of the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 (P.L. 109-432), the data period for calculating the inflation adjustments has moved forward five months. The U.S. Treasury Department is required to publish the inflation-adjusted amounts for the upcoming year for HSAs by June 1 each year.
Ramthun predicts that the maximum HSA contribution (not including catch-up contributions) will increase for individuals with self-only coverage and for those with family coverage in 2009
If you would like to receive these 2009 HSA projections, you may sign up on the HSA Clearing Corp website at www.hsaclearing.com/2009_hsa_numbers
Ramthun also predicts that changes will be forthcoming for the HSA-qualified insurance plans as well. For insurance plans offering HSA-qualified high deductible health plans, Ramthun says "Most insurance carriers will need to make changes to their deductibles and out-of-pocket limits for 2009," Ramthun says. "Companies can begin to finalize their 2009 plans, even though the official inflation adjusted amounts for HSAs will not be published until later this Spring," says Ramthun.
Ramthun also reminds all individuals with HSA-qualified policies to make sure that their policies will still be HSA-qualified for 2009.
